Military Recognition & Events

Veterans Day Musical Salute

In recognition of Veterans Day, Pecan Park’s 3rd grade students perform a “Veterans Day Musical Salute.” This year, our high school JROTC color guard opened with the presentation of the flags, the honor choir sang the national anthem, and a member of the band played Taps.

The school also recognized all the staff and family members who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces and welcomed home a parent from a recent overseas deployment.

PPES Goes Purple for Military Families

In April our school, along with the rest of the Ocean Springs School District, invites all staff and students to wear purple to honor military kids. We invited our services members to join us on campus so we could celebrate and thank their families.

Each year, Pecan Park Elementary students join OSSD in writing appreciation letters to our local veterans! These letters are then delivered to local VFW and VA hospitals to those who have sacrificed for our freedom!
