Mrs. Green's 3rd Grade Class

My name is Jillian Green.  Mrs. Grafton and I are teaming up to give your child an amazing 3rd grade year. I will be responsible for teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies.
For the past six years I've taught 6th grade English Language Arts. I am new to Pecan Park, but no stranger to the dedication it takes to ensure your child receives a fair but rigorous education. I am excited for the opportunity to be your child's teacher. Let's make it a great year!
Stay Informed and Up To Date:
Weekly emails will be sent home on Mondays. These emails will include our plans for the week as well as information regarding the great things happening in the Greyhound community. If you are not currently receiving emails for my class, please email me at and request to be added to the email list.
Please be diligent about checking and signing Tuesday folders every week to receive graded work and important papers.
Your child should have brought home a Class Dojo instruction sheet. This is the app I will use to text you one on one as well as send reminders. Make sure you download the app and turn notifications on. If you need help setting up your account, please email me.
"Begin with the end in mind." -Stephen Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
At the end of this school year, your child has an important test to take. Your child must pass the third grade state test in order to pass third grade. I will prepare your child for this test. It will be on my mind every single day that I enter the classroom. Your child's success is my success. Your child's failures are my failures. In turn, your child's success is your success, and your child's failures are your failures. We must work together the whole year, day in and day out, to ensure the success your child. I promise you, I will give it my all. We are in this together.
Business in the Front, Party in the Back
Accelerated Reader (AR) works if it is used correctly. Students are working on becoming fluent readers.  AR goals are set to challenge each child at his/her own level. Students are expected to read every day. Besides the prize of growing as a learner and a reader, students will be rewarded at the end of each term for meeting his/her goal.
Students can test at school by clicking here.
Our school district implements the use of iReady to give students the opportunity to receive remediation and/or enrichment tailored to fit each student's needs. Students can access iReady at school and at home by clicking here.
I use Quizlet to create digital flashcards. Students can play vocabulary games and study for upcoming assessments. To access our Quizlet class, click here.
There is also an app for on the go studying!
Little people have big emotions.
The PHASE program is put in place to help students with their social emotional skills and promotes good character.  As teachers, we don't just teach subjects, we are helping children to grow as individuals.  Click here to see the third grade program.
